Prosperity for common people, the ones who are below the poverty line or near to it, needs conventional technologies and resources already available in the sub-continent or in the regions just beyond SAARC. To marshal these resources and share those fairly for rapid development of fourth world ought to be the top most priority.
Peaceful and lawful SAARC will eliminate most of the subversive internal security threats and create grounds for rapid development.
The issues to be resolved are very complex and need very sophisticated designs and solutions. They also need intra-SAARC effort. Few of these would be. 1. Hindu-Islam, 2. Caste conflict,3. Religious conversion ,4. Naxal reconciliation 5. Various state and nationality issues including Kashmir, Naga, Bodos, 6. Sharing of water, 7. Transport infrastructure, 8. Energy acquisition 9. Trade, investments and tariff.
These issues will benefit common people. Our failures in the near-Abroad policies are appalling and cost being paid by the poor people is much too high. The Indian perspective on the great power equations needs to be dictated by near-abroad needs; not be any esoteric end nor for any adrenalin needs.
