IT's not just the politicians that have the over compulsive 'need' to control. It's most functionaries who have the slightest lick of being associated with pwer and the ability to control others. On a near daily basis there is excessive violence by the police and authority figures against common citizens - in the name of control - in most cases where there have always been less excessive means of restoring order.
The need to control flows through the political adgendas of nearly all the outfits with the motive to rule over the country. And, wire taps is hardly anything big; since political strength depends on having the strings available to create puppets out of every person in a partie's own ranks as well as those of other parties. The maniacal 'need' to control is what makes a police state. And it seems that this is where India is headed. The people of India, have never had control, since there has never been a choice available to the people to bring in a government that is qualified enough, nor the reliance on a effective executive body that is not corrupt, is responsible and professional. Who should have control? - citizens pay taxes, taxes pay for the government, govt serves.!
