Brilliant piece - Indira Jaisingh. Bina Ramani & her 'high-society' callous cronies reflect India's shame: truth is OK if its convenient. Lying and/or prevarication is a way of life.
We are becoming a nation of liars - in all respects -our dates of birth, our commitments, our statements - public /private/ queries in parliament. Even murder is not too big an issue for the truth to be told.
I hope Bina Ramani and cronies get hauled up/even jailed - for interrogation. I hope Manu Sharma's father is asked to step down from the ministership.... and the judge himself gets investigated.
But we need to ask ourselves: am I concerned for thr truth in my daily life ? Would I have acted differently if I were one of those witnesses to the murder??!!
