Women harassment
by KM Raghava on Feb 13, 2006 12:35 PM

Women Harassment by men has been there in India since quite a long time. In general, I feel that, women themselves are responsible for this largely. Consider a simple situation where-in a person (be it man or women) recruited into an organization based on some quota and not based on his qualifications. It is quite obvious for all other employees to look down at him/her. There would be so many other more deserving people who are not recruited because of this quota. Obviously the frustration shows up in the form of harrasment (I am not talking of sexual harrasment). Coincidently, it happens that most women get into organizations under the secured roof of these quotas. Therefore it is quite likely that the more educated and well qualified women unfortunately have to go through all this. Harrasment of SC/ST people by people of upper class is also common in India. And the reason for this is the same thing. An SC/ST candidate come to the examination with a mindset that 50% would be enough for him to earn a good job. The result is under-performance.

When women and SC/ST people realise this, I believe that all this harrasment will end and I am looking forward to such a day.

Thanks.
