The fate of Saddam Hussain
by Ravikant on Dec 30, 2006 10:40 AM

Saddam Hussain was a ruthless ruler and suppressed dissent with an iron hand.He did not hesitate to execute those who did not toe his line or were opposed to his policies.

Nemesis has caught up with him. Ideally, he had only two options either get executed or commit suicide. Hitler preferred suicide while Ceusecsu of Romania was executed. Milosevic of Bosnia was sent to an asylum else he too would have faced execution.

Nations with diversity in their peoples choose either a democratic path to sustain their unity or rally under a tyrant.

It is tragic that the condition of Iraq has worsened with the elimination of a person like Saddam. He has become some kind of a martyr following his execution rather than being consigned to the dustbin as his final destination.

Such is his fate that he has become a kind of a hero in death even after committing the worst excesses on his own people.
