RE:Indian Officials!!!
by Bose on Dec 27, 2006 04:28 AM

Impose military rule in this country replacing the free democratic system striving for which generations of patriots have sacrified themselves all because two American citizens carrying no visa or valid documents have been lawfully denied entry into the country. Hmm...
While I believe the situation could have been dealt with more tactfully (considering the kids were children of Indian citizens hence clearly PIOs), entry into a country is completely at the dicretion of immigration officials, more so if you conveniently forget a visa. Some countries have mutual visa waiver programmes for short stay purposes (for eg USA and members of EU). So if an Indian citizen and a French citizen, both without US visas arrive at a US port (hypothetically assuming the Indian is not stopped at emigration in India itself), the French guy will be allowed to enter while the Indian guy will not. White skin certainly isn't an issue there. For that matter, even if a person having a valid visa arrives at any country's port, the immigration officials still have a legal right to deny entry into the country. Free are those birds who do not need immigration checks, we have to pay a price for being human...
