law is law - my incident in USA
by Other Vijay and Vaishali from Boston on Dec 25, 2006 08:08 PM

I think officials did their job with current systems we have. I do sympatise, but I would take it as lessons learnt hard way and not pass on such comments in the name of country and your brothers in India and talking about humanity. I would say lucky you that this happended in India.

When I arrived in USA, my customs form which I was suppose to get back after stamping at immigration counter was my mistake kept with the officer.
When I reached to place where I need to submit that form, I said I dont have it, they called up other official and they doubted that I came out without going thru immigration process. For moment I was introgated as if I am a criminal - I dont blame them for that. I was taken to some Sr. Officer and few people followed me to the counter I passed through. They checked the system and found that I went thru all process and the officer at counter my mistake kept my customs form. Then officer said, our mistake we will deal with this officer later and you can go your way now.

Just a customs form, and for half an hour and you are suspected, imagine if you forget your visa papers or other important documents here.
