Of course ,we need (subsidy to go on Haj): because otherwise only the ultra rich can go. Even now the word "Haaji" ( one who has gone hor Haj) is synonymous to a "rich muslim man"
There is nothing like the Indian muslim , the Indian Hindu.It is only the issue that is addressed that seems to be important.
If it is a rich man's daughter's marriage.then all the invited are the rich (muslims/hindus/sikhs).........,
If it is the man on the slum that has to be evacuated from his home , then it is all the other people in the same slum( not the slum Hindu , the slum muslim)
If it is an admission in the IIT, then the competition is between the cream of intelligence the intelligent Hindu/Muslim Vs. Intelligent Hindu/Muslim ( not the intelligent muslim Vs. the intelligent Hindus)
Uplift the downtrodden without sincerity no one will benefit
Try uplifting the rich even without any sincerity , the poor may also benefit .The rich will look after themselves .And if there is a downtrodden in between the current will carry him along and he wil be uplifted
