RE:Balochistan and India's Role
by Ravikant on Sep 01, 2006 10:06 AM

The convergence of the long term economic interest of the major powers has a bearing on the happenings in Balochistan.Pakistan is a client state of the Western Powers being a member of CENTO.They;the members are foresworn to aid each other and so it is not surprising that the State of Pakistan has received all the help to quell any form of dissidence.
The killing of Bugti is not surprising at all.In fact it may have cleared the way to exploit the full economic potential sans the local opinion. Locals being co-opted into the burgeoning industry by new jobs. These are the classic developmental pangs.
What is India's response? It seems to be more emotional and attached to local Balochi sentiments, in direct opposition to the Great Powers.
What is its effect? Nothing save dislike and hatred of our neighbours.
What do we expect out of this stand? Nothing significant save participation in UN aid programmes, supplying grain, medicines, construction contracts and lastly Bollywood movies.
The position is clear regarding our standing in the general scheme of things.
Do we still want to participate in Balochistan?
