Vande Mataram
by R A Krishna on Aug 29, 2006 12:15 PM

A pity that the Maulvis have decided to play a game called Sedition. I am gratified that several Muslims in this forum have refused to play the game.

At this rate practically every Hindu excepting the 'secular' variety will look upon the Muslims as a community made up of traitors and worse. Ironic that this controversy should have started by the 'secularest' face of all, our Aaj Ka Arjun, who had decided to make everyone sing the song that defined the Freedom movement. Seeing the reaction of his target segment, he decided to backtrack! After 20 years or so, we may all have a big laugh over this madcap! That is assuming that we still have a country that respects freedom and even has a sense of humour till then. Nehru was the one who said that Bankimda's song Vande Mataram would be the National Song and would have the same status as the National Anthem. To see Maulvis talking in this vein makes ones blood boil at the sheer cussedness of this lot. If they had talked in this way in the USA about the Star Spangled Banner or God Save America, they would have been in Guantanamo Bay!
