Tolerence
by Zsam on Aug 25, 2006 03:28 PM

People should have freedom of conscience. when Muslims do not believe that there is anyone worthy of worship except Allah then why should it be insisted upon them. This will be counter productive to national integration.
I am a Muslim and I respect the sentiments of those who sing Vande Mataram, but to me this is a Hindu view of nationalism, in which a motherland is venerated. To force me to sing this song is like forcing someone to give up his beliefs.
If this is where India is today then there is hardly any difference now from the time of Aurangzeb, when Hindus were forced to recite the 'Kalima' of Islam.
We have not made much progress.
