RE:creating issue for a non-issue
by Neil Razdan on Aug 26, 2006 02:15 AM

The point being made is not whether one should or should not sing "Vande Mataram". The point is being made here on the basis of religious belief. Whether singing "Vande Mataram" will hurt religious belief of a muslim, or not. First of all, Imam Bukhari should be put behind bars for misguiding the public on religious basis and creating grounds for anti national sentiments. Secondly, paying respect to thy mother does not hurt any religion. Rather, one should be considered imbesile, uncultured, an rude for not respecting their elders, their parents, and especially their mother. "Vande Mataram" is that expression of respect to thy mother. Not bowing in front of anybody, nor worshiping any idol. All army personnel salute the national flag, which is a symbol, an idol of sorts. Why Pakistani army salutes to their own flag? Shoudl muslim personnel in Indian army not salute Indian Tricolor? This is not a question of religious freedom. This is discipline.
