POSSIBLE EXPLANATION, SCIENTIFIC !
by SAYAN AICH on Aug 22, 2006 04:04 PM

After the heavy downpour in areas in and around Mumbai the rain water, percolating through the soil, has drained to the sea. Since the average density of rain water is lower than that of sea water(due to dissolved salts ), the former must have come up to the upper levels. The actual SALTY water must be a few metres below. Thus what seems sweet is actually the rain water. As the two layers of water mix, the apparent sweetness would disappear. This process of mixing shall take a few days, possibly.
