Health does matter
by Indian Soldier on Nov 14, 2006 12:08 PM

Just like a wealthy but diseased person can't live longer, a rich but insecure nation cannot rise.
There is no doubt that indian business is flourishing, and if politicians don't meddle with it, india will be reaping rich dividends.
But what about the security of the nation? In present times India faces major threat from internal as well as external forces. Are our armed forces and intelligence agencies prepared for it? What is being done to prevent 7/11 like occurances? What is being done to prevent 1962 like situation? Yesterday when chineese ambassador claimed Arunachal, it became clearer that china and not pakistan is biggest threat to india. But still what has been done to protect out NE borders? At the time when chinese railways have reached indian borders at sikkim and arunachal, ministers cite financial constraints for laying railway lines in north-east? Was it cheaper to do so in J&K? Even today there is no proper highways in north-east which can transport indian army at less than a days notice to frontiers.
Becoming a superpower is still a fragile dream for India which can easily be crushed. The question is whether we can give a fight or go down lamely and humiliated?
