Stop the opportunistic politicians OR exit honourably
by Gururaj S. on Aug 03, 2006 08:45 PM

Its unfortunate that the well considered advice of our honourable President has not been heeded to by the opportunistic politicians in Parliament.

The President should either withhold approving this bill or resign - just to show that the politicians should not cross certain limits to treat the president as a rubber stamp. The Left parties have harped on the right of parliament to enact anything and get it approved. There may be no need to have a president if such is the case. Why waste tax payer's money to maintain a president when his words are not honoured.

Earlier, he was made to sign in haste the installation of Governor's rule in Bihar in a midnight drama. The Supreme Court ruled against it but allowed the elections only because the process had been set rolling by the EC.

Why should a man of such high stature suffer at the hands of these opportunists? India needs President Kalam. But we do not want him to be made a rubber stamp? If our politicians do not want an ethical President, then the options are limited. Either he stops them or he gets out of the way.
