Police in India is synonymous with corruption - extorsion, toture, harrassment. Service of police to a common man is invariably always at a price. Hopefully, women in uniform at the top would help change the image, bring some discipline in the ranks. Real shift to responsible policing is impossible, thanks to this country's politicians and vested interests. Atitude-wise, police officers as well as beaurocrats project themselves as ruling class. If the women at top can induce at least a semblance of societal responsibility and service mind-set, public would be relieved.
