Dance Bars
by Vijay Veerla on Apr 12, 2006 07:43 PM

This is very good judgement. The lack of judgement as a
ministry by Vilasrao and R.R.Patil got their slap.

Giving entertainment, subject to public order, is a normal activity
in all parts of the world. Legislating on moral issues is very
special to Maharastra. Many women lost their livelihood and this
was publicised very much in the west and UK in particular.
Instead of improving the living standards and worrying about
suicides of farmers, these Maha wonks are legislating on these
trivial matters. Nobody surmised whether these guys failed to
get thier haftas and therefore brought in the ban.

I was shocked when I went to see a movie in Bombay. To my
horror they played national anthem and we all are supposed to
stand like statues for those few minutes. I felt I was in North
Korea where this sense of circumstance does not deter you from
singing paens to the Dear Leader and Communism. Watching
movie is a pastime and inserting this scheduel of national
anthem in senseless. By the way, I am as nationalist as Bal
Thackeray but this practice is utterly senseless. But as this is
Maharastra, they can do what they like.
