why wont I live among Hindus
by Gauri on Apr 11, 2006 11:59 AM

Dear whoever..

Am sure that everyone who has lived in Mumbai for more than a decade rememberes the riots. Every galli/lane, naka/corner watever you choose to call it.

But I dont think u should be blaming the community on the whole. Being a Mumbaikar/Bombayite if u have lived here all your life I feel its beyond being a Hindu or Muslim.

Let me remind u that even after 13 years wat probably is the hotspot for Hindus - in Lalbaug Muslims too pay respects to a HINDU god.

And do you fail to give a thought for those Hindus who suffered the way you did?

Yes the riots have scared our hearts but that does not mean we need to carry those all along. Its people and their mentality that is wrong and that should change.

So... dont say Why I wont live among Hindus, instead appeal to peeople like you to make it possible for a Muslim to live in a Hindu locality and vice versa.

Hope you get a new home soon - the one you would be happy and feel safe to live in.
