Meerut fire: Inquiry ordered
by labrea on Apr 12, 2006 12:05 AM

All codes stipulate the minimum exits required based on occupant loads, usually no less than two, remotely located from each other, as also minimum opening width (doors/entryways etc) for said occupant load, assigned exit corridors/lanes, fire supressant system, fire alarms - both audio and visual and countless other safety features regarding flammability of materials and finishes. From this carnage, one must conclude that every safety code had been violated, and that no one seemed the least concered for the safety of the thousands of patrons, especially the person most responsible for fire safety - the Fire Marshal. Go figure. Bet your bottom dollar, no one goes to jail.
