Who is responsible for granting licenses for such functions? And what the use of an inquiry especially knowing that any 'report' will never see the light of day, or even if it did, nothing will be done to forestall any such disisaters. There seems to be no laws governing fire safety, or any kind of safety period. I would be scared witless to enter any edifice in India, knowing the shoody construction, corrupt inspectors and lack of respect for safety norms. I'm even more surprised that this sort of thing happens only on a weeekly basis rather than daily, if not hourly.
