Nobel prize
by ram bhupati on Feb 17, 2006 12:59 AM

It is easy to do a lot of charity when one has the resources. It is easy to utter lovely things full of wisdom and pithy sayings. Several persons have the gift of almost mesmerising others with their words. The media also can hype such persons and their wares provided they gain from the demand. I would like to see the holy Ravi Shankar risk his reputation (and life?) for the cause of truth and peace by at least speaking out clearly and unambiguously against the fundamentalist organizations who carry on a hate campaign with impunity against those who hold a different world view. He would make a difference given his world wide appeal and fame. Such a person would truly rise even above the Nobel Prize which his admirers so covet for him.Nobel prizes are irrelevant when the country is bleeding and human beings are denied their dignity while so called holy people speak from within their safety zones.
