refusal of help from India
by C V R Bharati on Oct 16, 2005 10:04 PM

Dear Mr Mir,
India would have gladly helped the disaster struck regions and would have been able to save all the people trapped inside the rubble. The issue was that Pakistan Government refused the offer of help from India. I am certain that the extent of death would have been much less if Pakistan government were to allow India to carry out the rescue operation immediately after the earthquake. Instead Pakistan chose to refuse the help that Indian government offered. By this single decision, Pakistan signed death sentence on all those Kashmiris who were trapped in debris and still alive. I really feel sorry for all such unwanted deaths of people who could have been saved but for the intrasigent attitude of Pakistani government on the issue of help from India. It is the Pak army and Gen Musharraf who had many things to hide and who could not risk exposure by allowing Indians a role in earthquake relief.
