Vinod Mehta trivialises his profession by casually admitting that journalists are pretenders. His lighter vein defence of blunders by journalists (like his mag's prediction on Modi's fate) betrays lack of sincerity among journalists, not their infallibility. His passing admission of taking an occasional sex cover is also an understatement. Outlook uses it often enough to overshadow its focus on seriuos issues. All the same, Vinod Mehta and Outlook are extremely desirable in this age of ad revenue-driven journalism controlled by politicians and businessmen.
