Kissing in Chennai
by Swarup Som on Oct 04, 2005 01:11 PM

Its was a nice little play and portrays in true light the sad double standards prevading Indian society. Possibly, in this direction, Indian can only be compared to erstwhile Afghanistan, where BIG BROTHERS & LEADERS arrogate powers to define moral standards of your personal life and your preference. Mere possession of progressive perspective towards sexuality is damnable lowly. Its is indeed hard to imagine that logically thinking Indians, argumentative Indians can tolerate such arrogance of some political leaders defining rules of engagement inside pubs and clubs. Its about time we woke up to the fact the "Decency" is one thing while "Imposed Morality" is something quite different. That we are going backward in terms of our Social Outlook is clearly proven by such governmental directives that Film Directors will now be barred from showing smoking scenes in movies and filmed media. With technology advancing at the pace its doing, we shall soon have machines reading mind, and that day our government shall surely have tools to regiment our thinking pattern and define what is a legal thought and what is not.
