I think our Indian mentality is to be in denial with regards to almost everything that can be unpleasant. I consider myself a conservative, but if I choose to have sex premaritally -i think it should be my decision and not the Big Brother's. Here is an event that is similar to what the author describes. My white friend from abroad had come to town for a family occasion of mine. While she was here, she met an attractive indian guy and went out with him. One night while they were in a discotheque just kissing -they were kicked out by the big brother. I was genuinely surprised.I used to think conservatism is in the values we promote via schools, family life, media and politics.Somehow our leaders seem to have misunderstood that and tend to legislate public behavior(worse still-take law into their hands). This has the effect of infringing on basic human rights and NOT promoting conservatism. If Big Bro really wants to do something of value to the society-he should go after politicians with multiple spouses and mistresses or perhaps the media for portraying and glamorizing woman only as an object of desire. He should NOT be infringing on the genuine pursuit of happiness of fellow citizens
