If both are physically, mentally fit then no maintenance should be given to either. If anyone of them or both decides to part away then let them go? How this money etc come in between? Law should be amended or judges should look at the problem with different angle.
Infact by bringing law in between we are spoiling the institution of marriage. Women are misusing the special provisions of dowry. They donot want to take care of old inlaws. Is there any law to force them to treat their inlaws prorperily?
One should either follow the norms of society. If he or she goes to Law then law should treat them equally. No special treatment. and no maintenance if both can earn. Yes responsibility of children should be addressed like putting them in boarding schools ( State should help if parents are not financially welloff)with equall right of father and mother to meet them till they turn adult.
