The word \"maintenance\" used for alimony is generally misread. When we say that wife gets alimony at the time the divorce decree is granted, then I would ask most of the people that what about the marital status of a women who is innocent & whose marriage is solemnised on the basis of fraud by the groom\'s side.Yes i agree that law should be equal to both but i feel when alimony is to be bear by the other party then all factors should be considered before making a decision. If a fraud on account of mental illness has been discovered by the girl for which she & her parents have been kept in dark even if the guy is not earning, punishment to the parents of the groom should be given so that they do not repeat the mistake again to spoil the other girl\'s life & vice-versa should happen to the bride\'s side if the fraud is from her side. So taking into consideration the factors the alimony of the other party is to be decided.Also if the court has given a decision that a husband is not earning & he should be given alimony for the maintenance then most of the husband who are of selfish nature will leave the job taking into pride the decision of the court & harrassing the wives for alimony
