Its not about death penalty
by Rajakumar Sankula on Nov 13, 2005 12:26 PM

Any average educated indian, who knows a little about the extradition, now does know that Abu Salem cannot be given the death penalty as Indian govt could only get him here by giving that assurance to Porchugeese. Well, if the question is about whether does he deserve a death penalty, the answer is simple. If he is proven at least 20% responsible for Bombay blasts (means direct cause for death for of atleast 50 people), yes, he deserves a death penalty.

Conveniently, we tend to forget (or we want to forget?) the important question. How n what made these Abu Salems, Chota Shakeels, Chota Rajans, and finally Dawwod Ibrahims? Aren't these people were the scions of the very society we do live in? Atleast, science couldn't prove so far that any one could be a born criminal (I challenge if anyone can disprove it on any stage and any where). Sooner or later, as a society, we have to root out or rectify the root cause. As an after thought, how would it be, if our CBI or whatever spend (or permitted to spend) enough time n resources find the criminals inside and bring them to justice with out having to depend upon other countries for EXTRADITION. I know I'm dreaming!!!
