No. The sentence of a death penalty for Abu Salem after the Government has agreed not to give him such a sentence would have a negative fall out.
Thye Portugese Government has agreed to extradite Abu Salem on our Government's assurance and the death sentence now would mean that the Indian Government (and NOT the NDA) has lied.
We will never be able to extradite any other such criminal.
Further the assurance of any Government should be binding on whatever Government follows, unless there has been a drastic change in circumstances.
