Abu Salem should not be given Death Penalty
by Vinay on Nov 13, 2005 04:00 PM

Our Government/ CBI has done the right thing. Had we not given the assurance Portuguese government would have released Abu Salem and he would have disappeared. By giving this promise we have succeded in bringing him here. We would never have been able to interrogate him and would have lost all the information / intelligence that he is giving right now.

If we break the promise and give him the death penalty then in future no other country will beleive us. No country which have these rules will extraditiate any person to India in the future. We will loose our face in the international community. Also these countries will become a safe haven for all the criminals, cuz they will know that they can never be extraditied to India even if caught.

But we should never release him from jail. The sentences should not run simultaniously. They should be such that when one ends the other starts. This will make sure that no one suffers because of him in the future.
