Absolutely
by Satyajit on Nov 14, 2005 12:12 AM

It is ridiculous for Portugal to impose conditions for crimes committed on foreign soil. Are we going to obey and bow down to our erstwhile colonial masters? America sentenced Timothy McVeigh (Okhlahoma Bombings) to death for his terrorist acts. And rightly so.

If the law of land justifies the death penalty, then it absolutely HAS to be imposed. India is sovereign democratic republic, lets not forget that.

Does anyone even blink twice when oppresive middle-east Arab countries sentence innocents to death left, right and center?.. and that too for petty crimes sometimes? What about China? Will they keep quiet over such terrorist acts.

We have to get rid of this \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'soft state\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' image of ours and show that we really mean business.

I say Death to Salem and all those who conspired and commited these acts.

And as fat as Portugal is concerned, to hell with them. You cannot interfere in the judicial process of a Sovereign Democratic Republic. Period!
