My fondest memory of Duttsahib is when i met him in Shimla. It was 1966, I was on holiday and he was filming Mera Saya. We both happened to be staying in the same hotel. I bumped into him at the hotel bar and ended up having dinner with him. I rember asking him why his wife Nargis wasnt with him. He told me she was busy with Sanju Baba.
Duttsahib was very charming and real gentle man.
I think he had a lovely smile. I'shall never forget him dressed in black sherwani and cap singing "Rang or noor ki barat kise pesh karoon" the sad smile on his face was so imperesive. And how can I forget him singing "Jalte hain jiske liye" down the phone to Nutan in Sujata.
I grew up watching his films. I am sad and feel as if today I have lost a member of my family.
