Red Herring
by Sanjay PD on Mar 09, 2005 10:06 AM

And that is what it is..Mr.Mitra's piece may be classified humourous were it not for such tragic circumstances.A quick analogy here would be Mr.Mitra supporting or backing the Naxalites if they become strong enough in India.Bhutan is used very cleverly, as a Red Herring.Nobody has spoken about Bhutan.Lets talk about Nepal. The Naxalites there are against the Monarchy..sure.Are they for Democracy? Are they willing to fight elections? Are they willing to lay down arms and take responsibility for the thousands they have killed?Rhetorical??No..Reality!The Naxalites swear by Class liquidations. What Democratic parameter do they fit into? The same one Stalin believed in I guess.Sure China will look...and may even speak.Mr.Mitra tries to scare away a proactive Indian response with the bogey of China.China will take care of its interests...like India should.A Maoist Dictatorship based on Class murder is the last thing India needs on its border.Question - What does Mr.Mitra propose, India do, if the Nepalese Naxalites start murdering their Class Enemies when in power? Will he scare us with a "China is angry" response again?
How did the West Bengal Govt.deal with Naxalites Mr.Mitra?
