Mumbai's heroes are here
by vijay merchant on Jul 28, 2005 11:36 AM

If only some common sense is used by our authorities and administrators I am sure when flooding takes place at least those marooned can be saved even if no fire engines or ambulances can reach. Low cost PVC or Nylon Inflatable boats are used the world over to rescue people in floods. If each fire station in low lying areas has 3 or 4 boats they can easily reach the marooned. While Florida etc. may have even motorised boats we can at least keep 30 or 40 boats in Kurla, Parel, Bandra ,Mahim, Saki Naka etc so that we can save people like the ones marooned in Bandra Kurla Bus Depot.
Will someone listen?? Can we spend a few thousand to get prepared??
