Given the treacherous nature of the Chinese Imperialists, and the past history recently, I would like to sound caution on part of the establishment that rules India.
It would be unbearable to be subjected to another imperialist rule, after the hard earned independence.
It was not the Ahimsa, it was the political and economic cost of battling the freedom fighters that forced the British to vacate India. However they did not leave without sowing seeds of hatred and poisoning sister communities.
