Nepal another Tibet
by Vijaya Kumar on Feb 11, 2005 03:07 AM

I remember the debate in college in 1960 about this. I was unpopular, because I projected Nehru's polocies as disaster to the future generations in almost every debate. His polocies would give enoguh time to the commies to ascend to heights that would support China to take Tibet. I projected that Nepal would pay a dear price follwed by the bordering Indian states like Himachal Pradesh. I mentioned that the only reason Tibet and Nepal did not fall yet was because there is some international monitoring and American concern. When Nixon and Kissinger forged a love affair with China, I was already in USA - and felt sad for the future of Buddhists in Tibet and Hindus in Nepal. China effectively neutrlized America with its economic relationship and friendship with American alley, Pakistan. If India does not wake up and thinks it is great by arresting their religious leaders, harrasing the good and weak and appeasing the bad- the next generation of Indians will be slaves to the invaders once again.
