Counter-intuitive ways of Democracy
by Harsh on Dec 27, 2005 06:08 PM

Clearly democracy has its unique and counter-intuitive ways of functioning. To be or not to be - remains the perennial dilemma for the governing and the governed indeed !

Do citizens have real bargaining power ? The inadequate voting arrangements have been already countered so very effectively and the audience/spectators are left to wonder ; judiciary had closed eyes at inception ; civil society so easily neutralised; and media has its very own dilemmas ?

Yes More questions than answers in the path to progress as long as we get there (stylizing the march - few steps forward and few retraced). Hoping though net movement is forward and in the hallowed direction !!
