The author has done valuable service to the cause of higher education by focusing on the issue for the information of the general public. The blame attaches to the government, university adminsitration and the educationists themselves. We are slowly destroying the good basae our adminsitrators had built up in the past. The entry of politics and the ideological moorings of the professors themselves are a root cause. Indulge in politics but do not ignore the administration of the educational institutions. Use the moneys granted usefully. I wonder whether the professors are abreast of the latest books in the field and order them for the universities. If you have any doubt, just pick your field, select a book that has just been published and make anb inquiry with the university. Inviariably you will be disappointed.
Unless there is a public outcry nothing will happoen to improve matters. That is our lot in the country.
