Thanks for your brilliant article about higher education and academic research in India. Although the rankings seem little biased, there is a truth about backwardness in higher education & research to some extent. One of the main reasons for this is lack of quality politics of India. e.g. previous NDA HRD minister did his best to provide infrastructure & access to various international journals for the betterment of research, but finally he himself lost the election. Indian policies are dominated by attractive political promises and subsidies. Moreover, how many people would bother about the facilities & education in universities in the election promises? There is still lack of awareness and importance about the quality of education even in educated people.
