Education Raj and Way to tackle it
by cirus on Dec 27, 2005 10:42 PM

I don't know whether the parameters for becnhmarking any institution given by the article is totaly correct or not but the actual scenario of Indian Education is not so good. Especially at the graduate and post graduate level India lags in research. This is even admitted by professors at IIT, who say that Govt. is doing very less towards improvement of education.Education and university rank is not measured ony by the subjects taught but its output in terms of patents and innovations. All this require grants, equipments and strong encouragement. With economy improving I don\\\'t see grants as major problem but believe that promotion of interests and maintainence need to be fostered in order to see good things.I propose a solution of inter state competition just as US does such that there will be productivity in terms of skillful manpower.Secondly, reservations should be banned at all levels.Instead, moral and financial support to disabled and genuine weaker section should be given. This will create a sense of belongingness and healthy environment for competition.
