RE:Misinterpretation of Quran
by a muslim friend on Sep 01, 2005 11:46 AM

Dear renjith,
there r no mistakes or conflicting writings in Quran, and it has not been written in contradicting manner or in riddles either. in fact, we dont need any of these for anyone to misinterpret a religious teaching. for example, take the case of caste system in hinduism. even though the vedas had outlined the castes as a mere indication of one's profession, in the end it became a means for social discrimination and a lot of other cruelties. same way, things that r fairly clear in Quran have been mis-stated and taken out of context, in order to lure people who lack the intellect to interpret the teachings themselves. As for Arabic as the chosen language, i am sure we didnt have a universal language in the 6th century (do we have it now either???), but translations of the Quran have been available for a long time now.
Talking about safe custody, i wud rather say it is in the safest custody. The reason??? it remains the only religious scripture that is known for sure as unadulterated throughout its entire history of existence.
