What the Nation owes to these victims
by kulmohan on Aug 10, 2005 08:29 PM

The need of the hour is the urge to do justice. Evidence is already available to the courts and commissions in plenty.

Re-opening the 1984 cases may mean that poor old Anoop kaur and other widows of 1984 once again need to do the rounds of session courts at first then the High Court and then the Supreme Court if they are still alive on that day. Or does the government intend to set up fast track courts to bring some justice to those starved of it for the last 20 years?

The DDA housing provided to some of the victims in Tilak Vihar is in shambles, roofs of some of the DDA house have started falling and caused fatalities .

The government should prioritise to provide the 1984 victims in honest manner with: -

1. Proper and adequate housing
2. Govt. jobs to the children of their families
3. Decent pension to widows

Out nation badly owes this to the innocent people who were butchered, burnt alive and raped in front of their family members for no fault of theirs.
