Maha govt to clear Mithi river
by s subramanyan on Aug 05, 2005 03:06 PM

Faced as they are with public anger and outburst, the government is making all the right noises. Wait for a month or so. Everything will be forgotten and Mumbai will be back with builders and developers on the ascendant as usual.

Such infrastructure projects as would help the largest nnumber of people should be chosen and th government should concentrate on drainage, water suply and sanitation and education, the city and its governors will continue to face probloems. Imagine the way the issues are sought to be sidetracked overlooking the basic problem, arguments of city-state are being raised-which would create greater politicial dissensions; New York is being referred to for a creating a CEO. Mithi river development authority will give a job for a retired bureaucrat and will go the way Ganga Canal project. It will be like beautifying the Cooum river!
