Mumbai suburbs need to break off
by s subramanyan on Aug 04, 2005 06:47 PM

The proposal to break BMMC into two is to be demanded urgently for for too long North Mumbai has been neglected. But the more important question is how to improve vastly the adminsitrative efficacy and the quality and commitment of the councillors.

Stop all the projects like Nava Sheva-Sewree and Worli-Bandra sealane and concentrate on northern suburbs.

Imrpove the quality fo rail travel taking short and medium term measures and not dream of metros and skyways and bullet trains to materialise some twenty years away and envision A/C suburban trains!

Discard the McKenzie plan and stop the sale of mill lands.

More money to be spent on health, education and public transport.

Media and NGOs have a vital role to play if we should not experience another 26 July.
