''Stop blaming the rains''
by Mrs. Gopal on Aug 02, 2005 03:32 PM

As is usually said by the BMC, they will definitely perform better next time - at this rate they will never be prepared for any crisis. None of the politicians deserve any vote from the public - where do they all go at such times - ask any of the politicians to wade through chest-deep water and let me get the feel of the cold, slimy water through which the millions of mumbaites waded on that fateful Tuesday. The politicians and municipal corporates are to be taken to task - they only know to fill their pockets and ensure that they are safe in their bungalows. As someone rightly said, since they are voted to serve the people, they should be on the streets with the public in their time of distress.

My sister (58 years old) had to wade through chest deep water. She walked on her toes or else she would be drowned - that too at midnight when she didnt even know where exactly she was headed to. We only have the politicians going overseas and giving long and beautiful speeches - we are making a mockery of ourselves by not reaching out to the people in times of crisis.
