C'mon....Japan and India!
by Mayya on Apr 27, 2005 12:29 PM

You ought to be painting a rosy picture here. I have myself come across a lot of Japanese. I always had an impression that they look down upon poor countries and enjoy sporting a sense of arrogance. They are too proud of their richness. Indeed Asian nations are trying to realign due to realities that are dawning them...viz., envisaged American power vacuum and rapid and so-called peaceful rise of China. In any sense, business with Japan is unlikely to grow given the stiff competition they face from the chinese added with Indian apetite for cheap stuff. True we have lessons to learn from the Japanese, but recent overtures from Japanese politicians with their prime minister included... is that they are very insensitive towards their neighbours. We need to focus here. We wanna be in the security council and not Japan. Japan may be a second largest economy, but that is today. Given that it has taken 50 years for UN reforms to be even considered, and also that India and China are the fastest growing economies with majority of the world's population residing in these countries, it is highly unlikely that today's qualification of Japan will last long.
