Prakash Karat is not the elected representative of the people, at any level. He is not an economist! That being the case, in what capacity has this individual been enunciating his archaic / redundant economic theories, and attempting to thrust the same on the Govt. of India, which is teeming with world recognised economists. He is projecting that he is acting in national interest and on behalf of the people. Communists are not people, they are relics from a failed past. The people of India have not nominated this opportunist to speak or act on their behalf. Yet, this man held the nation to ransom for four years. He is the man who never permitted an eminent and a competent personality like Jyoti Basu to take over as PM, when the nation desperately needed such a leader. He talks of national interests. Today, the economy is in its present state because Karat did not allow Govt. to act any way other than what suited his archaic ideas. He blames the Govt. It is time he was sent into oblivion, along with his relics of history colleagues.
