Yes, it is true. I was also surprised when I visited Hyderabad. I found lots of people speaking their Hindi (with liberal use of Urdu words). I first thought that perhaps these people were from North India. Later, I came to know that most of people who were born and brought up in Hyderabad were also speaking like this. Nothing against Hindi and Urdu. I am myself from Hindi speaking region. But, a language should not go extinct.
