We have refused to sign NPT on the grounds that it is discriminatory.This Indo-US nuclear deal is also discriminatory and is restrictive for our military nuclear programme. Indeed it places us below the existing nuclear powers including China and the Western powers "in perpetuity" in relation to nuclear weapons programme.Does any Government has the right to bind us forever to a subordinate status? indeed Congress is known for creating all the mess by signing various bilateral agreements be it with Pakistan, China or even Nepal and Bangladesh.Look where have all these ill-conceived short-sighted agreements left us? We are having the worst possible relations with all our neighbours. Militancy and terrorism promoted by these neighbours is taking a severe toll of our scarce resources both in J&K and North East which is now spreading across the entire country.Losing our leverage and getting in the US camp can never be a prudent long term policy. We need to remain equidistance from both china and the US and follow a completely independent policy to serve our national interests and pride.
