First of all, I want to clarify my credibility to write about the N-Deal. I have long enough experience in following diplomacy, foreign policies, strategic positions of India, US and much of the western countries. I have been observing the trend for a pretty long time now. Why this deal is good for India? Being a nation which does not want to sign NPT and not one of the permanent 5 in UNSC (read it as countries which exploded N-bomb much ahead of India and enjoying a favourite status in Nuclear game), India as of now will not be included as a part of any Nuclear trade among any nation. Should we sign NPT? No. Reason being NPT is in a way biased. NPT treats possession of nuclear bombs by the big 5 (permanent member of UNSC otherwise called as Nuclear Weapon State NWS) which includes US, UK, France, Russia and China (PRC) as legitimate and possession by any other states as illegitimate. Many countries signed NPT except India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea (which initially ratified but later withdrew from the treaty). Why these countries have problem in signing NPT. Israel being a small state which cannot even be pointed in a world map cannot afford to have its enemies (which it has on all sides – remember the 6 nation which engaged war against Israel not long time ago) bombard it with missiles and retaliate.
